He then tries to fire on Randgriz, but is stopped by Alicia, who survived the explosion at Ghirlandio. However, already weakened, Alicia faints after blocking a second shot, and is captured by the Imperials. Jaegar balks at Maximilian’s plans with a gunshot heard in the Marmota’s control room. Welkin and Squad 7, with support from Faldio, charge the Marmota in an effort to save Alicia.

Meanwhile, Maximilian negotiates a truce with Cordelia, demanding she marry him so that he has access to the Valkyrur bloodline, but Cordelia reveals that she is in fact a Darcsen. Shocked, Maximilian orders the Marmotah to attack Randgriz. Karl then confronts Maximilian about how he could be so cold to the loss of Selvaria, but Maximilian merely shoots him and leaves him for dead.
